2020 Vision

Three-quarters of 2019 has now passed us by. Incredible!
To the frustration of my wife, I’m a fan of just about every sport and I find the calendar dominated by following the various festivals of sport that happen here and around the world. By the time the footy grand finals roll around, I know I’m on the downhill run towards the end of another year.
In terms of footy, some teams have had great seasons, others not so great. But in terms of professional footy, I can guarantee you that regardless of how successful each team was, none of them started the year without a huge amount of planning.
Those in charge would have mapped out a plan for the year and those plans would also be looking at the medium and long term.
Each team would have set itself goals depending on where they are on their journey. For some, it would be about rebuilding for the future. For others, it would be about consolidating where they are now, and for others it would be about trying to take advantage of their ‘premiership window’.
And as we get to the end of another season, every one of those teams will be working collectively, and with the individuals within the team, to review their success, adjust their goals and adjust their plans for 2020.
And regardless of how successful they’ve been in 2019, it can be said, without a shadow of a doubt, that their seasons would have been demonstrably worse had they not have at least had a plan. Plans can change, but the simplest way to guarantee a lack of success is to have no plan at all.
Wise words: Hope is not a plan!
So, as we enter the last 3 months of 2019, how successful has your ‘financial season’ been. What were your goals? Did you have any? What was your plan? Did you have one?
What will you do to make 2020 a better year than 2019 and what steps will you put in place to start building success for 2025, 2030, 2045 and beyond?
If you’re serious about your financial success going forward, then I’m going to challenge you to write down the following:
- My/Our goals for the next 12 months
- My/Our goals for the next 3 years
- My/Our goals for the next 10 years and beyond
Do that and then come in and have a chat about how we can possibly work together to make the above goals a reality!
This is how you live life on purpose, this is how you create success and that’s why groups like successful football clubs and sporting teams, successful businesses, successful governments and successful individuals set goals. They set goals and then engage the right people to do everything they can to achieve them.
Give yourself and your family targets to aim for and almost like magic, your decision making will change to start putting you on a path towards those targets.
Wise words: If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else.” – Lawrence J. Peter
Are you living your life on purpose or just hoping things will fall into place?
Cheers,
Daniel
